Why the h**l has Bart Simpson been repeating the 4th grade 19 years in a row now?

Since Misses Krabappel will never pass him on to the 5th grade, since he'll never move forward, then why the h**l does he even bother going to school? He may as well just ditch school and shoot off fireworks and do whatever he wants, or even slash the tires of Otto's school bus, because it won't make a l**k of difference, he's just going to stay in the 4th grade forever, so he may as well stop trying and just do whatever the h**l he wants and not even go to school.

Because their universe has been effected by a floating timeline, since late 1989/early 1990. Because of this timeline, characters do not advance in age or growth. Sometimes, characters assume fictional dates based to the number of years prior to the curent year, which also leads to the telling of random flashback events (some of which never occured) that cause slight contradiction to other past flashbacks mentioned in earlier season. Yes, there's a lot of paranormal things in the Simpsons universe (even in non-THOH episodes), even though the series has been commercial and somewhat realistic to a degree lately, with upgraded characters who have modern/new age personalities that mirror some of today's celebrities.
