Question:

Why the hubbub over Sarah Palin's daughter?

If God had intended for women to get pregnant at a certain time, he would have programmed it that way.

As it is, girls reach childbearing age around 12-13 years old.

And in Biblical times, women married and gave birth at a young age.

So why the big issue?

  1. because the media will do anything for a scandal.

    Its not a big issue.

i would never vote for Palin but her pregzilla daughter is not a huge deal.

The media is just making it into a conspiracy.

    Its total propaganda.

  2. The big issue is that it is sending the wrong kind of message to these young future voters that 'Sarah Palin's daughter (or Britney Spears or her younger sister) had a baby and wasn't married and either the Welfare System or Mommy and Daddy will care for it, so what?') and McCain's stance is Welfare Reform to try to prevent this type of thing from happening.

Sarah Palin's comment about 'She will be getting married SOON and the entire Palin family will stand behind her and give her our full support' was seemingly made as a quick attempt as a cover-up because many current voters still have their old-fashioned ways and moral beliefs and had she not made an acknowledgement, it could have cost McCain those votes.

I, personally, believe that a girl should be mature and mentally able to understand the things that come along with motherhood without having the falsely glamorized view that it can't be much harder than taking care of my baby doll, like so many of these spoiled-brat starlets seem to be giving them the impression of, and whether 15, 16, 18 or even 21 years old may not even be mature enough in some cases.

  3. because people in this country like to have something to talk down about others. that way they can make themselves seem better than they are. the way i see it, you never know what your own future holds, so instead of being so hard on our fellow humans, we should be more caring and loving to those who are going through tough times. if we actually did this, the US would be a much better place. i hope you have a good day!

  4. There is a perception (which, to be honest, I share) that conservative politicians are very quick to jump on other people's troubles, and to preach family values as if -their- family values are beyond reproach.

  5. yea bak then ppl also died from the plague.....

  6. I think part of the main furor is due to the fact that Palin is a strong believer in teaching abstinence and NOT s*x ed in schools. Her theory kind of gets blown out of the water when her own teenage daughter turns out to be pregnant and unmarried. It makes her look at the best hypocritical, and at worst a failure. Whether or not this is correct is anyone's opinion, but that's why a lot of people are making a fuss about it.

  7. Because people have nothing better to do with their time.

  8. America isnt as liberal as some countries about pregnancy outside of marriage

  9. I'm not sure that this belongs in B&A, but I agree that it's nothing special that she's pregnant. Lots of girls get pregnant in their late teens, and after the age of 16 it's legal.

When deciding who to vote for in an election, people should looks at a candidate's policies and professional background, rather than their family structure.

  10. I think that misslave has captured the controversy but another element, for some, is the fact that she accepted the nomination knowing that it would result in her daughter being exposed to international media attention at a difficult time in her young life.  Since we don't know how Bristol feels about the pregnancy, the exposure and the apparently upcoming wedding, we can't know whether an unkindness is being done to her but I wouldn't want to be in her position.

  11. If she can't teach her own UNDERAGE daughter to keep her legs together, can she really control adults and keep them from taking advantage of corrupt politicians, easy political money, pork laundering tax money scams, and all that?

Hillary couldn't keep HER husbands pants zipped...and as a politician is a joke...

so if neither of them can control their OWN HOUSEHOLD, then they should think twice about trying to be world leaders!

  12. For one, she's not married yet and now has to get married because of the pregnancy.  It kind of hurts their conservative image, IMO.

  13. It shouldn't be a big issue.
