Why the media SHOULD NOT be censored?

Question

I have a research paper due soon, the topic: Should media be censored due to its influence on violence?

I am on the side that it should NOT be censored, after doing allot of research.

So im on my intro paragraph, down to my thesis sentence: The media should not be censored because.....

Now, I need some help coming up with 3 strong arguments, short and to the point, please write anything you can come up with.

I am doing a class debate about this in just a few days.

Even though it is easier to make points on why media should be censored, there are a few points ad reasons behind why it shouldnt be.

While i was doing my restationsearch i found a question with a very sensable answer, an average American views 100,000 acts of violence on TV before the age of thirteen, most violent acts are shown by news stations.   That made me think that yes the media shold be censoring what different stations show beause you will never know if a child could be watching.

It should be up to the parents to be making sure that their children are watching good tv, but now ifyour a single parent or working all the time, that becomes harder to do.

i am doing an essay very similar to this topic. the topic is " Why Tv should NOT be censored". for me i am the exact opposite of the argument i think tv should be censored but my teacher wants us to see the different side of things and learn the others opinion . as i was brainstroming i thought of 3 main points.

1: you have rights. you could talk about how YOU have the freedom to watch the things that you like.

2:if people start censoring moreand more things on television there will be nothing good/exciting to watch anymore.

3:The public should get to decide what they want to watch, or let their children watch, based on descriptions and ratings. Certain channels can pride themselves on being "family friendly".
