  1. The film was pushed back because WB was not expecting The Dark Knight to make so much money. So they decided that instead of releasing their next huge, money making film aka Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince...during the same year they would push it back to Summer 2009. They're reasons for doing this are because they believe the movie will be more successful if it's released during the summer like the Dark Knight and the 5th Harry Potter movie because of something that has to do with a "family tent pole"...whatever that means.

Despite what Fox news reported, this has nothing to do with Daniel's broadway play, Equus. If it did then WB would have done the same thing last year when Order of the Phoenix came out because Daniel was doing Equus in West End at that time and the movie still made close a billion dollars.

The delay also has nothing to do with Twilight. Summit Entertainment and a lot of other films jumped at the chance to get this newly available release date because they want their films to come out earlier and the Nov. 21st time slot is a really good one.

But the film is fully completed, special effects, soundtrack, and all. so hopefully none of it will be leaked before July 2009.

  2. Its all about the money.  They are greedy b******s.

  3. For the money, of course!  The studio/production company looked at the schedule for the original date (November 08) and said, "Whoa!  There's too many good movies coming out.  They're better than our movie, so we don't want to compete with them.  We'll go next Easter when there's no other movies out."

  4. To take advantage of summer movie season and probably to go head to head with "Eclipse" coming out August 09.

  5. They claim that they want to take advantage of the fact that the recent strike and threats have caused a gap in next summer's schedule ... i.e. they'll make more money it running all summer unopposed.

A couple of sources have mentioned that the strikes have caused delays with the movie's own advancement, though these were swept under the rug a lot more.

Truth be told, the movie ran over schedule, and editing is proving to be tricky, with the possibility of reshoots. The ending has proved in particular very problematic to pull off (which bodes poorly for the two-part finale, also helmed by amateur Yates).

  6. They wanted to take advantage of a slow spot in Hollywood's busy summer schedule. It'll be ultimately better for ratings.
