  1. Count Dracula, from Transylvania, Romania.

It probably started with Bela Lugosi playing one of the first Dracula's in movies.  He was Hungarian and became the iconic Dracula as far as the role is concerned.  Many actors after have done really poor imitations of his accent thus pegging Hungarians as the easily identifiable vampires for film buffs.  (Sorry it sucks to be held to Hollywood stereotypes.)
