Why the number 1.1k appears on the LCD screen of my Nikon D50, intead of the pictures counter?

I didn't notice when this started happening, how can I get the LCD screen to show the pictures counter? Thanks

  1. Looks like the setting has been changed to 'Buffer Space'

    Unfortunately, I don't know how, or how to correct it.

    If you have the handbook it should be in there

  2. It just means you have a large amount of free space on your card (approx 1100 images) it is still the counter just not as precise

  3. That is the number of pictures you have remaining. It's 1.1k or 1,100 remaining.

    I assume you have a large memory card? (Say 4mb). If so, and you are shooting JPG at maybe medium or basic quality, or a smaller size, you could easily fit 1,100 pictures on the memory card.
