Why the operator and the generator are not considered as individual gene?

  1. I don't know what the generator is.

    However, the operator is not a gene because it doesn't code for a protein.  The operator is only the place where a regulatory protein can bind.  So, whatever the generator is, it musn't code for a protein.


  2. What do you mean by generator?

    I still don't know what the 'generator' of a gene is ,I have never heard the term before? Can you define it?
