  1. hi toya, I am a female crohn's pt. for 28 yrs. dxed at age 12.

I can relate to the joint pain as I have it in my knees, hands, shoulder, back, lower back, and feet.

Crohn's is an autoimmune disease where the body sees the gut as a foreign object, thus attacking it causing inflammation and other problems like joint pain, abdominal pain, stomach spasms, etc.

Here is the link to CCFA's site explaining arthritis and such:

    http://www.ccfa.org/info/about/complicat...

If you go to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's site, you can find tons of stuff ranging from diet,  women's issues, as well as a hotline and live chat run by healthcare experts. There is also an open forum where pts. can post questions to others.

I take flexeril for joint pain and a narcotic if other symptoms are flaring.  The newer treatments--Humira, Remicade are used for Crohn's symptoms and joint pain. Entocort, 6MP, and Imuran are for treating CD symptoms only.

Definitely check out the site. I hope you feel better. take care.
