Don't people know that it is far easier to accept limitations on what one will get in the future than to accept losing or limitations on something that one already has?

  1. How cruel and uncaring you are to be sitting in your heated and probably air conditioned house relaxing by your computer while saying that the billions of people living in unheated huts with no electricity must give up any hope of getting the same comfortable life you enjoy.

  2. The problem with the third world is that they are claiming a right to emit as much per-capita GHG as the first world has thus far.  Since we don't have enough fossil fuels to do this, it is essentially a demand that they be allowed to do whatever they can without regard to climate impact.

If the claim is taken seriously, the third world may then demand to be paid to even use today's best practices.  This would put the first world in the position of paying "climate protection money" to the third world while also trying to pay for its own cleanup.

Billions upon billions of dollars in foreign aid has just disappeared into the pockets of third-world elites.  You really need to look at the corruption in the third world before you start dismissing concerns as "paranoia".

  3. i agree with what you are saying but i think it can be done with a world wide cap and trade system.

if you cap worldwide emissions and give carbon credits on a per capita basis. so that every person can emit the same amount, you would then open a trading system where poorer countries can sell these credits to rich countries for money which they can use to improve there standard of life. it also creates incentive for 3ed world countries to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
