  1. i dont care about the queen

  2. A majority of your answerers are WRONG.  The monarchy is the oldest institution of government in the United Kingdom. And is has been the symbol of the unity and identity of the UK (it has a very important role in the life of the nation).

    The British Sovereign can be seen as having two roles: Head of State, and 'Head of the Nation'.

    As Head of State, The Queen undertakes constitutional and representational duties which have developed over one thousand years of history.

    There are inward duties, with The Queen playing a part in State functions in Britain. Parliament must be opened, Orders in Council have to be approved, Acts of Parliament must be signed, and meetings with the Prime Minister must be held.

    There are also outward duties of State, when The Queen represents Britain to the rest of the world. For example, The Queen receives foreign ambassadors and high commissioners, entertains visiting Heads of State, and makes State visits overseas to other countries, in support of diplomatic and economic relations.

    As 'Head of Nation', The Queen's role is less formal, but no less important for the social and cultural functions it fulfills.

    The Queen's role is to:

    Perform the ceremonial and official duties of Head of State, including

    representing Britain to the rest of the world;

    Provide a focus for national identity and unity;

    Provide stability and continuity in times of change;

    Recognise achievement and excellence;

    Encourage public and voluntary service.

    These include: providing a focus for national identity, unity and pride; giving a sense of stability and continuity; recognising success, achievement and excellence; and supporting service to others, particularly through public service and the voluntary sector.

    These roles are performed through different types of engagement.

    By means of regular visits through every part of the United Kingdom, The Queen is able to act as a focus for national unity and identity.

    Through her engagements and walkabouts, The Queen is able to meet people from every walk of life. The Queen's unifying role as Sovereign is also shown in her special relationships with the devolved assemblies in Scotland and Wales.

    In addition, at times of national celebration or tragedy, The Queen publicly represents the nation's mood - for example, at annual commemoration of the war dead on Remembrance Sunday, or at celebrations for a national sporting victory.

    The Queen also has an essential role in providing a sense of stability and continuity in times of political and social change. The system of constitutional monarchy bridges the discontinuity of party politics.

    So, for me as someone living in the Philippines which is a republic :-(

    I would very much like to have a monarchy (especially when I'm the king)

  3. Take her back to Italy, your welcome.

  4. I am in my sixties and have observed our queen since I was a little girl.  She has maintained her commitment to duty and her dignity for all of her lifetime.  I think she is a wonder ful woman and hope that her grandson William will follow in her footsteps.  Hopefully we won't have Charles for too long, he is a disgrace.

  5. Firm Royalist here!

    I love the Monarchy! Well, the Queen anyway. I think she represents out countries (Wales, England, Scotland, etc...)

    She is out Head of State and we should be proud of her.

  6. A lot of Brits don't approve of the royals these days. It part of our heritage though. its a traditional thing. We've always had them, might as well keep them. Personally, I don't give a stuff about them but I think it'd be a shame to lose them. Its the lesser lords and whatnot that ought to be whittled down.

  7. There is absolutely no point in having a monarchy, they do nothing and live a life of total luxury all paid for by us mugs called taxpayers, I would much sooner have the money go to building prisons to house all of the violent criminals in, all of the various minor royals would then have to get jobs to support themselves, pay for their own transport and have no privileges, just imagine, prince Andrew would have to get a train to Scotland to watch golf instead of using a helicopter paid for by the taxpayer, prince Charles could just fade away into the background with his wife and keep his opinions to himself, remember, they are only people just like you and I, their position is afforded to them by an act of fate, they are not special, they are not good role models and if Edward V111 had not abdicated then we would have had an entirely different set of royals now. France got rid of their royals years ago and they seem to manage quite well without them, we should do the same.

  8. the queen is not impostant to me.  she is a silly old woman who gets paid loads of money for nothing.

  9. The Queen is not important to me... i dont think that we need the royal family... waste of money if you ask me.

  10. Don't believe everything you read!

    I have absolutely NO CHOICE but to be one of her subjects, it even says so on my passport.

    Your English is pretty good by the way.
