I took a home pregnancy test yesterday due to missed period, I got a faint positive line. Today I took another it was a little brighter. Therefore, I went to the doctor for reassurance, they took a urine test and it came out negative. I showed my 2 positive test, so he took a blood test. The blood test came back positive. When he checked me he said I was probably around 2 weeks prego. My HCG level was a 42. At 2 weeks could this mean more than once baby?? This is my second pregnancy. Anyone??????

  1. No, I don't think it does mean that.  I'm not positive, but I don't think women who are pregnant with more than one, have more HCG in their bodies.....

I think they just have more than one fetus.

  2. at 2 weeks my hcg levels were 162 and i only have one inside me

  3. It just means you have a good hcg level.

  4. At 2wks my levels were 205 and I only had 1 little boy. Your levels sound normal for a single baby pregnancy.

  5. Well, actually that sounds normal. They actually count how far along you are using your last menstrual period. So while you more than likely conceived 2 weeks ago you are considered to be 4 weeks pregnant. Most home pregnancy tests detect levels of 25 or higher, and there are many women who don't receive a positive until shortly after their missed period. I know for this pregnancy at 4 weeks my levels were 120 and I'm only having one.

  6. no that sounds like good range..i have seen people higher than that at 2 weeks as well..only 1 baby tho

if you were 2 weeks and at like 2000 something...then i would be thinking a bit about multiples..i doubt you have more than one baby in there

katie c...one objective (observable and reassuring) sign of multiple pregnancy is a very high level of hcg for your given gestation..you do typically produce a lot more hcg with multiples than just one baby...sorry but ur wrong

    good luck

  7. No. 42 is normal for 4 weeks which is what you technically are. You conceived 2 weeks ago. The doctors test wouldn't have been negative if you are pregnant with twins. Most urine tests require about 50 in order to show a positive, so if that's the case every one is pregnant with twins.

  8. you have a high level of hcg

  9. 3 weeks LMP 5 - 50 mIU/ml

    7 - 8 weeks LMP 7, 650 - 229,000 mIU/ml

    13 - 16 weeks LMP 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
