  1. i think it might because its the same color as blood. kind of like when i see i start to think of trees and grass.

  2. Red IS the color of Fire, Lava, Explosion and of " BLOOD " , thereby ancient man has perceived that red is danger, and /or aggression, it can do Serious harm to Man! Subtle variations of this theme are now used in advertising to stimulate Or otherwise excite us, Today !

  3. BLOOD

  4. Its a color associated with action, activity, passion, emotionalism, strength, dominance, impression, life.  I really like the color red.  However, my favorite color depends on my mood.

  5. speak for yourself. i love that color. love, passion, heat, connection, consistancy, stability

  6. I love red but that's besides the point. (i don't find it agressive) but to go back to your question, would red be symbolic of blood in many cultures and therefore, understood as agressive to many?

  7. most likely, excited response to the color red was selected for through evolution, because blood is red; ripe fruit may be red or orange; blushing which might mean someone likes you; etc. All these events involving the color red are causes for excitement. In some apes, when the female is in heat, their rear gets swollen and colorful; often red.

  8. My opinion is the color is so vivid the image is readily stored in the brains microtubules. If it becomes associated with an agressive memory there is an association formed between color and emotion. When the color presents itself again there is a correlation drawn between image and emotion. It is not that "red" and "anger" are synonymous, but we have an easier time recollecting memories when we associate them with multiple senses. Ex. Sight, sound, touch, taste....

  9. Is it?  I like a good mixture of red, black, and blue.  Quite pleasing.

I always found the combination of bright pink and yellow to be offensive.

  10. Probably firstly because it's the color of fire. Most animals have an instinctual fear of fire, and humans are no different. Red is an alarming color because it reminds us of fire. This is probably why things like dangerous values on gauges are often shown in red: we see it and automatically think "danger".

It's also the color of blood, and the sight of blood is usually associated with injury or death.

Red has some very powerful and nasty associations.

  11. I would say because red is associated with passion and anger (such as seeing red). Also when you see someone whose eyes look red they are usually inebriated or possibly out of control. Also the majority of animals that can change the color of their skin through pigments (such as chameleons, octopuses ect.) display the color red when they are angry or agressive.

  12. ". . .to our eyes."

The question can only be answered within its own context or culture.  I wonder if the Yanamami tribe of South Brazil consider the color red as an indicator of aggression?  If, and only if, the color red is an "archetype" for aggression, then it is a socially constructed story.  Context is everything in this question.

  13. It is just a matter of cultural influences. Some will associate red with blood, so the ressentiment feeled about this color will become more negative, that those who get raised by looking at red Ferrari...

Also, in nature this color means poison... Early humans were aware that an animal with red color could poison them, and even fruits of the red color were considered not good to eat. Anyways, some poisonous snakes have red colors on their body... So all in all, red is among the warning cues nature teach us about...
