Why the rise in ice cream prices?

my favorite ice cream has gone up $1.11 in the past month. why is this happening so suddenly?

  1. I dont know, I noticed it too. I also noticed that instead of getting a 1/2 gallon carton of ice cream I am now getting about 1/4 of it less. When did that happen

Because of the interest in ethanol the price of corn has risen.  Corn is what they feed to dairy cows.  Its more expensive to feed them so its more expensive to buy their milk.  Add on to that the increase in fuel prices to get the milk to the ice cream maker and then to get the ice cream to the stores.

  3. Combination of rise in Diesel prices, and Corn Prices....explanation Ice cream is made with milk, milk comes from cows, cows are fed corn..and ice cream is transported on "Reefers"...18 wheelers that pull refrigerated trailers....these trucks require diesel fuel for the truck and the trailer.

    Craze...you beat me to the punch.
