  1. romantic atmospheres usually are interpreted at night time.

  2. Because we associate romance with subdued light - candlelight, for instance.

  3. More romantic moments happen when it's dark, than under the bright sun... Think about it...

  4. moon could represent a jewel to ancient men... the only other reason i can think of is that it's dark, but not pitch black it's just the right ammount of light durring a full moon (about the light of a candle light dinner)

  5. The sun does have romantic associations -- think of the balcony speech in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.  But subdued lighting -- twilight (which has lots of romantic associations) and moonlight -- give the couple that much more privacy.  Total darkness, of course, and they won't be able to find each other (unless they've got past the romance part!)

  6. The sun is romantic, i've often told girls that my heart burns hotter than the very sun in the heaven when i'm near them, and that she is the sun in my days and the moon in my nights.

  7. because sun is hot, which melts the heart

  8. must be the color

    moon his cool

    sun is hot

  9. Goddess worship of the moon actually precedes sun worship. A main attribute of moon goddesses is their positive effect on fertility.

In ancient times fertility was highly desired and more important even than "romance" or sexual pleasure and the sight of the "goddess" shining down would surely be seen as a fertility blessing.

When the need to populate the world started to abate the association with s*x was still with us culturally and evokes pleasant expectation of blessings and riches (children).

Most men don't really get this anymore but the female soul remembers :-)
