  1. Hunza, a remote mountain kingdom, may have been the inspiration behind James Hilton's "Shangri-La."   James Hilton, published a book about Shangri-La in 1933 and called the book "Lost Horizon".  The book was made into a movie in the early 1970's which also was called Lost Horizon.
