Why there is a need of a TV Licence in ireland when we are paying tax, vat to our products.?

i think the TV lincence system is a daylight robbery. what is the need of it. we r paying tax. we buy TV as any other product after VAT. we r paying the channels from out pokets, they why this bullshit of TV Licence. why no one is reponding against this in ireland.

  2. It's effectively another tax that is used to fund RTÉ's broadcasting and to fund the production of Irish film and television. No one responds because most people are used to the idea of paying for TV viewing or don't care as it's not that expensive in the overall scheme of things and means less adverts on TV.

    It's the same principal as paying for Sky or cable TV? Paying for Sky/cable is actually a bigger rip-off as you not only pay for the service but also have to sit through a ridiculously high number of commercials!
