I have got a very big doubt in my mind ..When a person passes HSC and then gets a PPL after 6 months .. thn i suppose he's eligible to work in a domestic airline or some small ones..

The list I've checked ,there all pilots are above 40 years of age.

Later ,one can get his CPL in 2 years i suppose ..then he become 22 or 23 ..Why then ,no pilots are mentioned in the list with date of birth of 1975-85 ?I mean ,is my list wrong or one has to wait for so many years to get appointed as pilot .Do reply back .I am in HSC and really in tension

  1. You should have CPL+ME+CIR+220 FLYING HOURS to become a pilot in India. You should also pass DGCA exam

You can study CPL in any country. But select a program as per the specifications of Indain DGCA.

Australia is the best country offering Indian CPL courses followed by USA

Cost will be around Rs.25-27 lakhs and duration is 52 wks

You can take CPL+CIR and ME Ratings with 200/220 flying hours . When you finish your course you can come back to India and convert your CPL to Indian CPL.

  2. If I understand your question. Most pilot are 28-35 years before they have the experience to fly for the big airlines. But that may be changing in the near future.

  3. What's "HSC"?

I suppose that with just a "PPL" he's not eligible to fly in any airline.

Maybe the pilots in your country work at other piloting jobs for a long time before getting hired as airline pilots.

I've seen Indian airline trainees in Miami.  They looked like they were about 23.

Airline pilot is just one of many pilot jobs.

  4. If I say, why some of the best surgeons are 55 years old or the best mechanics are 50 years old, then? These indian airline piolts you are refering to have been flying (like with Indian Airlines or Air-India) from the average age of 24-45 and all are ATPL holders, currently. At an average they have flown more than 2000 hrs. Experience comes with age. I would like to mention is that in older days, a pilot used to take lessons in a systematic way gaining flying experience thru' time...sometimes working as an instructor at the local flying clubs before joining a major airline  (slowly accumulating his flying hours). Now-a-days, everyone is trying to find a shortcut to join an airline, anyhow.

  5. What list are you referring to?

An Airline Transport Licence is not comparable to a college degree.

Someone with a PPL is not eligible to work as a pilot at all - thats what "Private" means.

You need at least a Commercial Pilots Licence to be allowed to work as a pilot.

Many employers would insist on an Instrument Rating and a Multi-Engine Rating as well as a minimum number of hours experience.

In many countries a pilot needs a minimum number of hours (usually several thousand) as a Commercial Pilot-in-Command before he/she is even allowed to begin Airline Transport Pilot training.

It easily takes several years to log the required hours.

I would in fact be quite worried about the standards of an airline with big jet pilots much under 40 years of age.
