  1. uk electrical regulations don't allow three pin plugs in bathrooms however to keep the razor manufacturers happy they were allowed two pin plugs but as with the light fittings they have to be earthed despite the fact most razors aren't

  2. The electric razor with two pins is designed to go in to a razor socket which means the mains are isolated from the razor by a 240 v to 240 v transformer, as an alternative when shaving outside the bathroom an adaptor is made to fit a standard 13 amp socket outlet so that for convenience you can shave for arguments sake in your bedroom

  3. 2 Reasons, as said by others with the first reason, some bathrooms have 2 pin sockets to plug in to but standard 3 pins is dangerous.

And, how many things aside from shavers would you take with you abroad that need plugged in? Not many, but if you take a shaver, it's a lot easier to find an adapter for it, for whatever country you are going too.

  4. It is for safety reasons so no one is tempted to plug things like electric fires in there which are a lethal hazard

  5. It's so people are not tempted to use 3 pin appliances in the bathroom!  That is considered dangerous!

You should never find a 3 pin socket in a bathroom - unless it's massive!

  6. I think it's because it's illegal to have a 240 volt socket in a bathroom (or if not illegal it's not done for safety reasons), so the shaver sockets are 110 volts, and 110 volt sockets are always 2 pin.
