Why those rich people donated to charity while they know that their donation sometimes didn't get to those poo

rich people give money to charity to help poor kids or some country. but, they know that they a neighbour that is poor, single parent beside them to be help. but they prefer to give to charity. why? because they need a tax receipt? why helping so far when you have somebody beside you, who need help.

The kind of rich people you're talking about here are the sort who want to attend fundraisers or dinner parties and brag to their colleagues about donating five hundred dollars to a well-known organisation. If they donate to somebody they know, firstly they can't brag about it without revealing the person's identity (which wouldn't be very nice at all!) and secondly it's not quite as interesting to brag about for them. That's what I would think anyway. I'd also like to say that I'm not stereotyping all rich people when I say that - I'm going by what the person who asked the question has said and therefore tried to answer with regard to the particular situation this question discusses.

There are many social service agencies that can help people, if they qualify for the benefits.  However, starving children has a lot of "appeal" to some folks and they think they are doing good, which is what they are doing paricularly in a disadvantaged sountry..  

As a single parent who was "poor" as you say, hey, it was up to me to take are of my children, not a wealthy neighbor.  I worked hard to support them, no one else took care of them but me, it was MY responsibility.  I managed to get them through their lives and educate them and they both graduated college with degrees.  It wasn't easy but we made it.

generally, pooled resources create more opportunities for more people......also, it is a tax deduction....also, the fact is that a starving child in a 3rd world country IS in more need of that money, since the neighbor can get to other available community resources and government aid that are not available to a starving child in Africa.
