Great question!!!  Not all Christians or followers of Islam are violent...many do try to spread their religions peacefully...Christians want everyone to believe in Jesus Christ so they are saved and go to Heaven.

Many back off when it gets heated and many do not resulting in fights and wars.

They claim peaceful because most of the religion members are its really a small percentage who are not peaceful.

Christianity is supposed to be all peaceful but sadly too many Christians are perverting the gospel of love set by Jesus Christ.  

The history of the two religions alone proves Christianity is much more about peace than Islam.  Christianity spread through teaching and baptisms, followed by horrible persecutions.  Hundreds of Christians became martyrs and yet the belief still spread.  Sure Christianity was involved in the crusades and had their own inner fighting, but thats nothing compared to Islam (the past and present).

Islam spread by conquests and war.  Many people were forced to convert or they would suffer death.  Now Muslims dont even know what form of Islam they should follow.  Their religion must be false if they're blowing themselves up, murdering people, killing those of different beliefs, etc.  Yes Christianity has too many denominations too but at least Christians arent out there blowing eachother up and murdering people.  When someone says something vulgar or disrespectful about Jesus you dont hear about Christians setting out assassination attempts on that person/s but Muslims do it all the time.  That cartoonist made fun of Mohammed and he had a price put on his head by the Islamic community.  A church we fund in India is in a predominately Muslim community and the pastors cousin was pulled over by Muslims and beheaded in the woods for being a Christian.  Truly Christianity is more peaceful.  

I dont believe Christianity is bent on world domination either.  Yes we want to save souls but your comment makes it sound like a warring ambition.  Jesus told us to make desciples of all nations.  Thats what were doing but we are to do it with meekness and humility.  Too many "christians" have perverted their power and try to tell people "the bible says to do this and that" when it really doesnt.  It shouldnt surprise people that some will try to use religion to gain fame and power.  Really the church today is starting to forget the historical bible and the true gospel of Jesus.  Many ministers are preaching about how to get rich and what God can do for you.  I agree that Christianity has many potholes but these dont come close to the hate found in Islam.
