Question:

Why two years in a row?

I am a Pittsburgh Steelers' fan, and when their schedule first came out, I was surprised to see that they play the New England Patriots on the road. As they played the Patriots in Foxboro last year, too, I was wondering if anybody knows why they have to travel to play them again? I thought that the home site alternates every time you play a certain team.

  1. im pretty sure thats only a college thing but yeah it does suck haha. not to mention we ( Steelers) have a terribly rough schedule this year.

  2. I'm pretty sure the Patriots have to play the Colts away this season making it two years in a row. Quit crying and cheer your team on!

  3. Whats even better is... how many games this year do the Patriots play against teams that finished over .500 last year. How many made the playoffs??

Now, how many teams do the Steelers play against teams that finished over .500 last year? How many made the playoffs??

    Now thats funny !!!

  4. its not a college thing either becuase penn state is playing ohio state on the road for 2 years in a row and i have no idea about the schedule

  5. The NFL official scheduler can explain why based on strength of schedule, game rotations, etc.

As far as the comment above implying colleges have to alternate home fields - this is completely in error.  Many Division 1 schools do home-only games with opponents for multiple seasons.  The reasons are:

    1.  Because they can.

    2.  Because they share a larger percentage of their larger stadium's gate receipts than the guest school would generate at their own stadium. This is why you often see seven home games and 4 or 5 away.

  6. what I'm wondering, is how the STEELERS, drew the leagues toughest schedule while, the PATRIOTS, who were in the SUPER BOWL, drew the leagues softest.

besides NEW ENGLAND, the STEELERS also play the AFC SOUTH AND, the NFC EAST.

  7. Me also a huge Steelers fan is mad about this, it's mainly about college games whether they need Hienz Field, and its all about the rest of the schedule we face the NFC West and the AFC South and we face one team from the AFC East and from the AFC West and the Steelers face the Chargers at home and Patriots at Foxboro

  8. dude i'm a Steelers fan too but it doesn't matter where the Steelers play cause our fans will go to wherever thats why they call it Steeler nation we should be worrying about our whole schedule just take a look at it we have an extremly hard schedule i don't care where we play i will root them on the same way if they are home or away lets just hope we can win one at their field this year
