Question:

Why use lightsabers when you have the Force?

It always annoyed me in the Star Wars films when there would be two Force-users dueling and then they would use their lightsabers 90% of the time and only occasionally use the Force.

Why would you try to stick someone with a sword when you can pull them, push them, crush them, choke them etc.????

  1. For when two who are just as strong as each other with the force, they settle it with light sabres. Like Yoda and Count Dooku in the second prequel.

  2. The force takes too much energy, were as the lightsabers don't.

Beside the force is used for special occasions like killing someone special.

  3. Good question! Maybe it drains their energy too much to use the force all the time so they compensate by using a glow stick

  4. Like most people, the Jedi's apparently need to see a physical manifestation of their spiritual powers to know how to direct them.

I see the light saber as a metaphor of the spiritual power that we all wield.  Why don;t we use it more instead of relying on physical crutches?

I think it is because we have chosen to live in a physical universe and we enjoy having physical tools to help us direct our spiritual energy.

Is not he light saber powered by the FORCE?

  5. then where would the action scenes be? its a film.... and would be a bit rubbish if all the fight scenes were just people glaring at each other and making silly hand motions

  6. to keep the starwars geeks asking questions

  7. Because the Force doesn't shine or go Vummmm.

Also, isn't the Force pretty energy-consuming? (more so than fighting with a lightsaber).

  8. Because who doesnt want to see a sword fight with coloured light up weapons?
