Why use the word at all then?

This confuses me and has been brought up before I am sure. The same old question, how come only black people can say the word ni**er? I understand why it's offensive to black people, so why do they use the word themselves? In my opinion, those who say it consider it to be non offensive. And when a person says ni**a instead of ni**er, does this make it less offensive, like no one knows what you really mean to say? My thing is if it is such an offensive word to black people, why are they using it and making their children think it is ok? To me it's like saying only us white folk can call eachother cracker. If a black person calls me cracker, I will sue them, beat their ***, and call them a racist. But if bobby-sue over here says it, well she's white so that's ok!

i'm going to go out on a limb here and say that i don't think "the-N-word" is acceptably used by educated people of any race. the people who do use that term, black, white, blue or yellow, are either lacking in self-respect, a decent vocabulary and/or intelligence.

i've never understood why anyone would proudly declare themselves "trailer/white trash," either...
