  1. As far as I know, Viet Kieu can and do own houses in Vietnam. The law was changed about two years ago. Though I am not Vietnamese, my wife and I bought an abandoned coconut grove at a government auction and both our names are on the deed. Before that, I used a "straw buyer" to purchase property. I have many Viet-American friends who also own property in Vietnam. I am helping one of them build a house on his land right now. He also owns a condo in Vung Tau and invests in real estate in Saigon.

  2. they have stupid government
