  1. dats the day KFC opened its first stoore

    Yeeee HAw!

  2. it is from way back in the day when the plauge happened it happened on a friday thus black friday (black=disease and death)

  3. Because in business terms being in the black means you are making a profit.  Being in the red means you are negative.

There is no racial issues intended and if there were it would deem to be in favor as opposed.

  4. In general "black" is considered bad or horrifying.  I think this was the name for a stock market collapse of huge proportions.

This is strange because the term "in the black" means that your business is profitable.  "in the red or red ink" means you are losing money.  In that sense maybe it would have been better if it were called "Red Friday" but that would have offended native Americans.  You have to offend somebody I guess.

  5. It was a phrase retail stores used the day after Thanksgiving due to the amount of shoppers, and the amount of revenue that they made that their ledgers were in the "black" instead of in the red.

  6. Because Christ was crucified on a Friday.

  7. It is because that is typically the day that many businesses go from being in debt (in the red) to actually making a real profit for the year (in the black).  Look at it in terms of commercialism and accounting.  There is nothing meant to be racially implied with this term.
