Why was Australia's relationship with britain so important in 1900-1918?

I'd say it hinges on Britian's involvement in both the 2nd Boer War and World War I and their need for as many troops as possible to fight these wars.  The Boer war sees the use of Australian troops. The World War the need for them.  This need for allies instead of subjects can be seen as setting the stage for the transformation from Empire to Commonwealth and the end of Britian's Colonial Empire in general.

  3. Australia's relationship was so strong then because of the way the world was shaping.The British Empire remains to this day.The Queen is still the head of 16 nations. The other nations form the rest of the commenwealth.The Queen of England is still the largest land owner in the world and the United States of America is still regarded to the commenwealth states as a second class country.
