boozer was there to play if something happened to bosh or to howard. he played a little at the end of a couple games.

To give versatility in the big man position if a team like Spain got the upperhand because of size. He was not needed when it was shown that Chris Bosh was a better scorer and defender in the international FIBA scheme of play. Thus relegating Booze to the bench.
