Why was High School Musical filmed in Utah?

The storyline of HSM 1 2 and 3 is supposed to be based on a fictional school in Albuquerque, here in New Mexico. Our landscape is just as great, if not better than that of Utah's. Why couldn't Disney have filmed this series here in New Mexico?? And why did they pick Utah and not Colorado or Wyoming either??

Well, New Mexico offers many unsafe climates. For example, it's located in the desert where many people in the musical have allergy problems. For example Ashley Tisdale is rumored to have allergy problems. With all the sand and dust. They can't risk having one of their main characters being injured, or perhaps dead.

lol they filmed the movies in Albuquerque...at a high school there....
