With a population that rivals China and a year-long summer climate, why is India so insignificant in the rankings? How many medals did they win?

  1. Who?

  2. Didn't Abhinav Bindra of India win Gold in the 10m Air Rifle?

But yeah that was kinda invisible, I didn't see any shooting coverage on TV.

I guess it may have to do with training programs and sport infrastructure, I guess the country is just not producing or if they are then perhaps it has to do with genetics.

  3. Although India has over a billion people they are almost all dirt poor.  The guy who one their first individual gold medal just happened to have a millionaire father that built him a training facility to practice shooting.

For more information about for India at Beijing.

  4. I think they won Gold in the Cow Riding Marathon, correct me if I'm wrong.

  5. I believe they have won one or two medals.
