Why was Ireland declared inseparable from England?

  1. No one ever declared Ireland inseparable from England (or do you mean Great Britain? The two terms are not synonymous) The Republic of Ireland has been separated for nearly 80 years now - it is not even part of the Commonwealth.


  2. Because it is far too close to England, Scotland and Wales and would make a brilliant strategic base for striking at us if it got into the wrong hands.  At one time during the second world war there were fears that the Irish were going to allow an enemy to use their country in just that manner.  That is what I learned at school.
