Why was John Brown so critical in the civil war?

Could sombody type up a biography at a 6th grade level comprehension. I home schooling my daughter and I want to test her on this question...and I want to give her a study guide...

  2. Have you googled John Brown to find out?  There are plenty of American history bio's out there that are written at a 5th-7th grade comprehension level.

    Past that, I'm a bit busy homeschooling my own 6th grader. :)  That's how I get a lot of my research done, though - good old Google.

    Edit - according to your other questions, you have other people do quite a bit of your "daughter's" history and math.  Sorry, but I don't buy it.  

    If you're really the mom, the teacher's guide should give you the answers.  If you're the student - which is what it looks like - do your own homework.
