Bit strange but they did say that earlier on, any suspended players could still play.

Because his match suspension only applies to Premiership Season Home and Away games. The State of Origin game has no association with this.

yeah the AFL made the call that it was ok for suspended players to play,in the end it didn't matter-he had little impact before going off injured anyway.
