Why was Manny Ramirez traded??!?

Was he a free agent, or did the Red Sox trade him? If so who did the Red Sox get in return? thanks for your answers.

He was traded because of his lack of wanting to play (taking a day off when playing the Mariners/yankees), Manny being Manny antics, and thinking he is above everyone else in teh Red Sox organization.

the Red Sox got Pirates OF Jason Bay.

He got traded because he's always been a distraction and he was in the last year of his contract. They received Jason Bay who is a young power hitting left fielder from the Pirates.

He was a cancer to the clubhouse. They actually took a vote, and 24 wanted him gone, 1 wanted him to stay, and that was Ortiz. Manny is 36 years old and on the backside of his career. The Red Sox organization had put up with him for toolong and the manager Terry Fancona could not stand him. Manny demanded a trade and after would basically walk down to first and play even worse defense (if thats possible).

He has been dogging it, not running out ground balls. Red Sox were tired of his childish ways, tired of explaining "Manny is just Manny."  Lots of his shenanigans weren't in the news. Plus , he has said this year he's sick of the Red Sox.

I haven't seen he has been traded yet, much discussions to trade him. I know the White Sox got Ken Griffey, Jr. from Cincy today.
