Of course he was and still is a great figure in American history but why do so many try to portray this courageous man and champion of the Civil Rights Act as a Democrat and a liberal?

  1. where have you been , the last 30's sir?

  2. If MLK was republican then Georg Bush is g*y

Ronald Wilson Reagan was really good for America

Fox is a real news station

and  Georgia has one of the best education systems in North America

  3. Because the two parties essentially switched ideologies during the civil rights era.  For a long time, the republicans were more liberal because they were the party of Lincoln.

  4. Its because civil rights and more government involvement in improving people's life was and still is apart of the platform of the Democratic party. And this platform started way back in the FDR terms with the New Deal and stuff like that was how Democrats got supporters of the African American persuasion. And since Martin Luther King was African American and supported a lot of Democratic principles he was labeled as a "liberal"/Democrat.

  5. I don't know if MLK was a republican, but most blacks were republican before jfk/civil rights b/c Abraham Lincoln was republican.

  6. Shhhhh. That didnt happen.

The republicans have always been neocons and against civil liberties. (yes, that is sarcasm)
