  1. I think Marx was considered a genius because of how some of what he wrote was true.  Not his solutions nor his ideas, but his thoughts about situations of those working and some opinions about capitalism were right.  Now did he propose helpful and good answers? No.  But he was right about how many workers were working long hours.  Workers were also using machines and were employed in tedious jobs.  True.  Employers taking advantage of those that worked? Yes.

He was one of the first people I think to have argued against capitalism.  I'm not sure but I think he was.

However, I don't think he provides good solutions.  Nor did he make good predictions.  He thought workers would overthrow employers and take over the production, etc.  Well they have not.  He predicts a big change, a revolution I guess you can state, and workers taking over.  Now that just isn't very practical.  NOr will it happen.  Because it would lead to much violence, bloodshed, and repressive measures.  There are much better ways to address social issues.  Violence and uprising aren't one of them.

He acknowledges that capitalism has made economies strong if I remember correct.  That's one point he makes.

I guess that overall, I do not agree with Marx's solutions and wants.  I do however, see him as a smart person.  He is also right about worker abuse and all.  However, he has solutions that go over..radical.  Just too extreme- which is why many don't agree with his beliefs.

  2. I don't know if he is genius, but he is a great writer and thinker. You can argue that he is social scientist or economist or philosopher or whatever, but the most important thing that truly shines is his rhetorical skills in his writings. Manifesto and the eighteenth brumaire of louis bonaparte are some well recognized books. They are beautifully written. I personally do not know how communists can make any links or base their actions directly to his writings, but nevertheless, they are wonderful. I guess you have to be genius to write something like that.

Since someone is trying to debrief marx's writings... Y not....

His beliefs are not necessarily about employers to employees, it is more about social structure which as been replaced from feudalism to capitalism. It used to be Kings, Lords, Merchants, then most of us. One way the other, Merchants have captured the hearts of common people. Fooled by their immediate cares and solution, commoners helped to create the revolution where today's bourgeois and proletarians were born.

Violence in our nature, is in our blood, I could say that Iraq war is a manifestation of Capitalism, as people can argue. Marx does seem to push for violent revolution, yet he does point out that bourgeois have done the same to achieve what we call Capitalism. One thing that people do not understand is that Capitalism is an utopian idea, as it goes for Communism. Capitalism is what we want to achieve, yet it is not 100% achieveable. Communism is the same. Yes, I do agree that Communism fell short in completeness, yet it is an idea that still exists, even in our heads. Do not feed me craps that Americans are good hearted Capitalists (Marx would say most of us are fooled to think that way...in reality, we are proritariet). We react based on immediate actions as Marx would say. How can we be sure whether Marx is right or wrong. If a person read the manifesto, he/she would know that it can actually happen. You would never know. Before Marx and many other, philosopher and economists argued rigorously against Capitalism, yet Marx is the one who hit the hearts of many people.

Also, it is very ignorant to say that we have free market. Define free market, then look at our system.

  3. Marx was the biggest fool of the era and led to the complete collapse of his ideas when the Berlin wall came crumbling down.

Free Markets Reign Supreme. Marx is a backwater joke.

  4. Marx worked in New York as a journalist.  Didja know that?
