  1. Your question presumes that he was indeed unkind to her.  They were unkind to each other in my opinion.  Putting it in its very basic terms,  he because he was unable to empathise with her, and she because she was unwilling to take second place to his strong sense of duty.  They let each other down, sadly.  The rest is history.

  2. When men in general are having an affair with women who would not be accepted (let alone a prince courting a divorcee who would be scorned by his subjects), and marry  women for convenience and appearances, they are seldom agreeable. Usually he would be resentful, and find all fault with the woman who is standing in his way of happiness, especially if she loves him, and is hurt by his lack of attention.  I doubt in this case guilt was a problem on his part, but it was probably the nagging of "mum."  The Queen looks like she can cast a pretty stilted tongue-lashing.  Sweet Diana reacted like just  what she was, the unloved outcast, and yet, was still the one responsible for maintaining regal appearances .  He even appeared to the public to be unbelievably "sour."  I can only  imagine what she must have gone through at  home.

  3. I think he married her because she "fit the bill" and he needed heirs. If he had a choice (or thought he had a choice) he would not have married her. She was sooo young, a kid compared to him. I don't think he respected her as an equal. Just my opinion though...

  4. Hi Kevin7, He needed a "heir and a spare"! It was strictly a marriage of convenience...his. After she gave him 2 sons, he went on about his ways, which included (as I like to call her) "Camellia De Ville"! OXXO Moonchild

  5. Because even royalty can be losers!!
