wow, why wasn't he fired?  He was GM for the team for 7 years...

During that time, how often was there a Grey Cup appearance? Or even a home playoff game?  He seemed to find it acceptable that the team had a .400 winning average so far this year,  he refused to fire the HC,

Well considering his contract was up after the season and he was already talking in the media of not being there next year I 'd say the writing was on the wall. But where ever he goes the team that hires him will get a very good football gm

I've heard some people say that it was because of the way he speaks and dresses. Well, whatever the reason was it wasn't good.

I think above and beyond the spotty playoff record was his look-the-other-way over various player transgressions such as the Trevis Smith HIV-positve sexual assault case or the whole losing a class guy like Henry Burriss to Calgary.

I think the fans can put up with the wins and losses but expect the team to conduct itself with a bit more decorum. They were becoming an embarrassment to the community and for a team that produced such legends as George Reed and Ron Lancaster that was unacceptable.

A total inability to work as part of a team.  He insisted everything be done his way and was not able to adjust to the thinking and workings of a Board of Directors.  He might have got away with this attitude if the team was playing consistently but they weren't.  Something had to change so Roy was let go.

The Roughies are another team that is underachieving this year, and frankly, have done for a long time.  Usually in a case like this it's the head coach that takes the fall. For some reason Shivers refused to fire Barrett, so in the end he is the one who got the ax.

I don't know why because this is my first year a roughrider fan.  My brother plays for them.

Well I just watched the roughrider/tiger-cats game.  The firing of the   GM did not effect them.  I think Butler should stay as starting QB.
