Why was Speed Racer a FLOP?

I must admit that I did not go see the film, but I wanted to.......just never did.

  1. Because it was trying to hard to appeal to all audiences.

    In the trailer, adults see the cheesy dialogue and fake looking effects

    and kids see the action sequences which are to chaotic/fast for them to take in. Everybody gets turned off. Besides, even if it did look good it was released against Iron Man, Narnia and Indiana Jones. You can't be dumb enough to pass off one of those movies to see Speed Racer instead.


  2. I thought it looked idiotic. Just another re-used plot in Hollywood.

    I think a lot of people felt the same way,it just felt to kitsch-y to me.

  3. It was a flop because the movie didn't know who their prime demographic was. unlike Pixar films which are aimed at as broad an audience as possible, Speed Racer plays very young and proudly denies entry into its ultra-bright world to all but gamers, fanboys and anime enthusiasts.
