  1. We don't even know that the parents knew she was on the quad bike.  All we know is that a woman was drinking & driving and a little girl is dead.  What would anyone expect the police to do?  Of course if the police had the instant wisdom of 'The Drunken Fool', all our problems would be over.

  2. i agree and find it laughable that the legal driver gets it in the neck!

Thats the police for you, out for a quick arrest....

  3. Incidents like this just prove how niave and stupid some parents can be.

Although the driver that hit her was legal, apparently she was driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

IMO both the parents and the driver should be arrested and charged.

  4. Nothing you can do. Some people are crazy.

  5. I totally agree. I have 3 children the youngest is a 7 year old girl.

I cannot imagine letting her out on  quad bike, especially on a public road!

We are farmers and have land we could let them ride on, but my husband and I, firmly believe these things can be dangerous.(he has one for buzzing around on)

It is such a tragedy, and I also feel bad for the driver, who hit her.

Saying that I drive a 4x4 and never go above 30 mph round us, because we have kids on ponies and dog walkers in the road, and you just never know what's around that next corner do you?

    Truly sad.

  6. Quads should NOT be operated by anyone under the age of 17 on british roads. Four wheeled vehicles are considered to be cars and have to be operated in the exact same way, with FULL driving licence, Tax, Insurance, MOT. Helmets are recommended but NOT compulsory.

What this 7 year old was doing on one is anyones guess.

  7. How is it the driver of theRangerover is facing charges of dangerous driving?  He has licience, tax, MOT & insurance & is old enough. - It could have been anyone and the outcome would be the same.

She should not have been on the road. - end of.

  8. How do you know she didn't borrow it off her big brother and escape onto the road?  You are too quick to condemn.  This is a tragedy however it happened.

  9. I don't know what a quad is,I heard it was a bike, but it is the parents fought .They were negligent in letting that child out alone .Blame them for it all!!!

  10. It must be awful to lose your child at any stage , but these parents seem typical of many nowadays with little thought put into what is a dangerous present to give to a child . Most children are spoil ed now and don't understand the value of money and that you need to work hard to be able to afford things

I haven't read the full story to understand fully why the other woman driving the Rangerover is being questioned . These quad bikes are illegal on the roads so the parents of the child were breaking the law and are responsible for their childs death . I know that is harsh , but it is true.

  11. A lot of people have condemned the driver who hit this untaxed, uninsured, unlicensed, inexperienced, underaged, illegal driver of an illegal vehicle on a public road, but I wonder how many have considered the impact on the driver of the other vehicle? How would you like to be driving along a country road and suddenly find a small child coming towards you on a motorised vehicle which should not even be on a public road - let alone in the hands of a seven year old child. Surely the blame for this tragedy lies squarely with the parents, who will hopefully be charged with manslaughter.

  12. she should never of been on a public road with it,

i am all for kids learning young my 7 year old boy as been on bikes since the age of 5 but never on a public road

    regards x Kitti x

  13. Whilst a tragedy, can't say I'm sorry.  The parents who send children out on these vehicles - uninsured, untaxed, unlicensed are all irresponsible twats.  Hopefully this will serve as a lesson to those who brought their children quadbikes this Christmas.

  14. A girl aged seven on a Quad!! Alarm bells!! Hello!! Why wasn't she being suitably supervised???

Sheer neglect from the parents, who are incapable of looking after themselves let alone any children!!

  15. It is dengerous enough driving a car on the road, you never know what the other person (driver) will do.

Allowing a 7 year old girl to ride a Quad motorcycle, on the road is crazy.  The parents need their head's examinted & they irresponsible parents out to have the book thrown @ them.

I've heard of an incident of a baby crawled onto route 143 in Springfield, Vermont & when it was too late, or pretty close to it, the grandparents tried to wave @ the driver & get them to stop.  Is that irresponsibe or what?  Some people are clueless & I wonder if they have any brains @ all.
