  1. Rainwater flows into the valley providing irrigation for subsistence crops.  The land will be flat, they didn't have to go up and down the hillside.  And it allows for a ecohabit for hunting game, in the hills.


  2. there is usually a river flowing through the valley, so its a source of water (the point brought up above). and valleys are also difficult to enter, as there are highlands on both sides. this acts as a form of protection to foreign invaders.
