was was dinosaurs so big?

why was most of the creatures befor and up to the dinosaurs age so big but after the dinosaurs got wiped out everything was so small the biggest things today are elephants and whales and they are really small next to dinosaurs.non of the theorys about how the dinosaurs got wiped out explaine why this is.

  6. They were so big because, the larger you are the more predators you can fend off.  Also, back then, there was alot more Oxygen in the atmosphere, so they will use less energy to get Oxygen in their blood.

  8. Common misconception.  While there were many large dinosaurs such as the Tyrannosaurus Rex, most dinosaurs were rather small.

    Not to mention that most mammals were the size of rodents back then.
