Perhaps the only reason why  such a great player like Sourav Ganguly was left out of the ODI team is because our captain Dhoni and the selectors don't like him, and they want a younger side. The reason which was put forth to explain dada's omission from the ODI team was that he is a bad fielder, and a pathetic runner between the wickets. There is some truth in these two reasons. I am not denying the fact that Sourav isn't that good in saving runs while fileding, or running between the wickets. But then, O C'mon guys! Can you expect a man to be perfect in every way? They should have taken into account the several things he is capable of doing for the team. He is an elegant and an aggressive batsman, which is most essential for ODIs. Moreover, he is an economical bowler, and his medim pace helps a lot in times of need. As Kapil Dev had said, "on his day, Ganguly can strike better than anyone else".

But I don't think that all these strong reasons would have any impact on the selectors-those bunch of jokers, and our captain, MS Dhoni. Perhaps the only fault which ganguly has committed is that he has the courage, and he dares to speak the truth, which makes the Bengal Tiger a hated person in the eyes of many. But just 91 in one innings isn't enough. He really needs to repeat such innings more often in order to really make a strong claim of his ODI comeback, which now seems almost impossible.

That's a serious question asked by millions of cricket lovers all over the world.  Yes, his fielding is not up to the mark, but that can be covered by his brilliance with his bat.  He is such an elegant and attacking batsman !  He can bowl with supreme quality and don't drop catches, sometimes taking hard ones.  The current IPL matches are proving all these.  So he should be there.  After the match of KKR against DC he was asked about his inclusion in the ODI team. "The answer is with Vengsarkar" was Dada's reply.  We want a statement from Vengsarkar about the matter.

Dada is a great player but he was out of form at that time....moreover we all 've seen that the younger side is doing much better!

I don't think the Indian Board really know - they probably think he is too old, without regarding his performances.

but the main reason is youngsters are performing well like Rohit, Uthappa, Dhoni and others...... they have won T-20 world cup and recenlty Tri Series in Australia.

i dont think now there is any need of these oldies like saurav, dravid, sachin..... if you want to make a better future for ODI team

Ganguly was neglected because our captain (like betrayer Dravid), Coach (like arrogant & failed Chappel) do not like a fighter or performer, they prefer a " Chamcha".

Just see the performance of Ganguly in IPL mathches- his batting is awsome, his bowling is better than regular bowlers and his fielding is now the inspiration for the 30+ players of our country.

Finally his captaincy- its superb, un matchable & a lesson for young kids of our country.
