Why was goku so much stronger than vegeta?

Why was goku so much stronger than vegeta...Vegeta trained way more than goku did and he still wasnt close to passing him..like when they was in the time chamber vegeta went in twice and goku didnt even finish is whole day in there and was still far above vegeta and in the buu saga vegeta trainded for 7 years straight and still wasnt close to catching up to goku.....Do you think it was because his anger or was it because of goku's love for his family and friends???

cause goku trains to get stronger an overcome any challenge thrown at him vegeta just trains to surpass goku thats it goku trains to protect the earth an will do no matter wat to save it thats why he needs to be stronger plus goku train for 7 years cause he took the lesson of the grand kai an in dbz it was said by bulma that vegeta hardly trains now that goku died he is not the same vegeta just lets his pride an honor get in the way he doesn't train to defend anyone just to beat kakarot.

and vegeta is just too stuck up with beating goku and surpassing :x

It's all in the emotions. Vegeta likes to keep a cool face and not let any other emotion out and is almost always stressed, while Goku is free and in harmony with himself. When Vegeta let out his true emotions in the Buu saga and decided to die for his loved ones... BOOM! I doubt anyone else than Buu would have survived that.
