Why was i taught in Marine boot camp that Marine pilots are bettter than the navy and air force pilots?

why was i taught there was never an amphibious operation that failed? why were we taught that Marines took iwo jima, guadalcanal, etc when the army helped out ALOT? why Marines think they are better than everyone else? they call the navy their "ride" to a fight but the navy is much more then their ride. the navy is their medics, lawyers, dentists, naval missiles, etc

I served several years in the Air Force and then later worked as a contractor doing test and evaluation. I can assure you that no one branch's pilots are "better" than any other branches; they all are the very best this country has to offer.

Having said that, when I was doing test and evaluation, it always seemed the Marine pilots knew a lot more about their aircraft than the pilots from the other services and were all-around more professional in their approach to duty.

I hear you. I agree totally.  You never really hear the other branches saying they are better.  The Army doesnt get its due, I know that for a fact.

Because they want to make you think you are the best. It's part of the psychological training that's makes you a killing machine. This is what the marines want you to become. A lean, mean, fighting machine. If you think your second best, you'll have doubts as to your abilities.

Just so you know each branch has their elite fighting force.

Yes, I was in the military. Wingnut I was. Our motto "Death from above" SAC Head quarters Omaha Nebraska. The sign out side the base read. Peace is our profession. People kept defacing it by writing "War is just our hobby" Is kind of funny.

If you can find a real old timer that knows anything ask him about the South Korea ROK army. From guys that I knew in our military, they said they're some of the badest mothers around. These were guys that knew. I was told they would run up hill in full combat gear under fire. So when you think your the badest. Think again.

Nothing against our troops mind you.

On the subject of the Pacific, they are the central reason why we took it. Of course others helped.

because every branch think they are better then the other sister services. PS the  marine belong to the navy they are not a separate branch like the air force, army or navy.

Everything they say is sorta true. Maybe some of it should be clarified.

Marine pilots and Navy aviators are equal. They both can fly off an aircraft carrier and do the controlled crash landing back on that floating airfield. The air force is just as capable in the air but their bases don't move.

Amphibious operations did not fail because the Navy made sure the Marines got to the beach, we didn't make them swim. The Navy, with the big guns, softened up the beaches.

During WWII the Marines were the first ashore in the Pacific. The Army came in later. Air power was provided by the aircraft carriers with both Marine and Navy flyer's. The Army Air Corps provided a lot of ground support aircraft. It was Army pilots that shot down Yamamoto.

The Army did it all in Europe. And the US Navy was there to got them to the beach. The Army Air Corps controlled the skys over Europe.

How can anyone think one service is better than another?

Cause the marines have to think that they are gods. They are infantry. They deal with some scary situations so they need to be brainwashed into believing they are more qualified to do so then the other branches. It works. Marines are hard asses. But it is only cause they believe it. So to answer your question, they were brainwashing you. Now your pride is on the line. You can never back down even if it costs you your life.
