Question:

Why was it necessary to keep bringing up the POW story & adopting an injured child at the RNC?

This is no disrespect to McCain's military service whatsoever.

But, in reality, have we not heard it before? Was any of what was mentioned about it anything new?

They took SEVERAL nights during the convention to talk or show videos about it.

Also, no disrespect to the McCain's for 'saving' Bridget from the orphanage. But, again, how many times did we need to hear about it?

TWO nights were spent talking about adopting this child.

Bottom line, why was it necessary to REPEAT stories/situations that the whole WORLD has heard over and over again at the RNC? Why wasn't more time spent on CURRENT issues instead?

Thoughts?

  1. I guess it was to deliver a message about the man and his character. Why didn't the DNC do that?

  2. That's all he's got going for him.

  3. I think if you paid a little more attention to the RNC you would not have this question.

What I heard was a lot of half baked reasoning and AMERICA!! AMERICA!! AMERICA!!

They are trying to cover everything with blind patriotism

  4. I don't think he spent that much time on either subject, and I think his criticism of the performance of BOTH parties in Washington was VERY current, fresh, and honest.  I think his plan for the economy is sound and reasonable.  I loved it when he said he would cease sending billions of dollars to countries that don't like us in the first place.  Hooray, McCain, on that count.

And, I guess plenty of people haven't heard about those things at all, considering some of the nonsense that is posted on this forum alone.

All in all, much more substantial content than the tripe in Obama's speech.

  5. they have no issues to talk about they have been in charge for the last 8 years and have FUBARed everything they have touched. Did you notice they did not mention their illustrious leader W BUSH OR d**k Cheney even once? You would think a sitting president would get some mention over all of the other TV fodder they had to offer

  6. During the DNC, Biden's story came up a lot too... about his first wife.

It's not really a bad thing - but they want to pull at heartstrings of American people. A lot of people vote based on emotions. You would be surprised. Not that it's a good thing, but it's true.
