Question:

Why was motorcross invented?

I just recently,by recently i mean today, was interested in motorcross and so thats why i wondered this.

  1. Since the dawn of time, humankind has been striving to go faster, further and higher. Someone realized that you could strap an engine to a bike, and ride it off a mound a dirt, and the rest, as they say, is history.

    Seriously, it was an offshoot of trials riding, where people attempt to traverse obstacles on their bike. It seems pretty obvious - if you have a sport that doesn't involve racing, you should probably make it a race somehow too.  Double cool!

Well, I can't say I know for sure when it was originally thought up, but I know it has been going on for a long time.  My grandfather was a motorcycle trick rider in his youth, and that would have been in the early 1920's.  I think as soon as they figured out how to build a motorcycle, they figured out that you can fly around on one!
