  1. I work for the Department of Education in the call center and trust me EVERYONE is "randomly" chosen! Every application I have come across has been selected and I see about 150 a day..

  2. 30% of all FAFSA applications are selected for verification.  The college you have chosen to attend will be collecting information from you to verify that all of the information you put on your FAFSA is accurate and correct.  It's not a big deal.

  3. 30% of all apps are selected.  It doesn't mean anything.

  4. it means that they want to make sure you're not lying on your fafsa.

you just have to provide proof and documentation of the things you say in your application.  for some people, it's no big deal, you just bring in your tax forms and whatnot.

for others, it can be more complicated, like if you were a foster child then you have to get documentation from OCS that you were a ward of the court.

either way, the faster you get it all done the better.  if you're trying to get a perkins loan, they could run out of funds for it by the time you're done verifying.  that's what happened to me.

  5. The same thing happened with mine. The reason for my situation was that I never changed my last name with social security when I got married and I put my married name down on my FAFSA. Just make sure you double check all your information to make sure it's correct. Other than that, it's no biggie. Once I got the info all straightened out, it was just peachy :)

  6. My FAFSA is chosen each and every year. Just take a copy of your filed taxes, and all will be good.
