  1. Was your daughter under 17?  Was your tax liability over $600?  Those are two reasons it might have happened.

If it is wrong, it will be corrected when you file your 2008 tax return.

  2. If you didn't claim her you don't get the $300 for her.  And filing an amendment now and claiming her won't change that.

If you didn't work at all last year, I don't know how you got ANYTHING unless you had income from social security.

Your parents were most likely only eligible for $600 TOTAL for the two of them because their tax liability last year was $600 or less, maybe zero.  $600 per person is the MOST you can get - you only get that if your tax liability was at least that much for the year.

  3. You should have received a letter from the stimulus folks with a number to call with questions.

A friend of mine was to receive more $$ and wasn't sent to entire amount so she called your tax preparer as well as the number that was listed on her letter.  Start calling.

  4. you can only receive money on someone you claimed. Also your parents get $300 apiece, not $600.

  5. If your income was low, the $600 was for both of you ($300 for you and $300 for her).

Single people are eligible for UP TO $600.  It is not a guaranteed $600.  If your tax liability was under $300, you would only receive $300 for yourself.

If you believe that you should have gotten the full $900 because your income was higher, it is possible that the IRS made a mistake.  They are aware of the errors and will correct them this summer.

    Edit:

You have to actually claim a child as a dependent in order to get the $300 rebate for them.

  6. do you claim your daughter on your taxes every year? did you do that this year? if so, you might want to talk to I. R. S. and see if there is a mistake on their part. don't procrasinate on this.

  7. You got $300 for yourself and $300 for your daughter.

The rebate payment is equal the amount of tax liability on the return (tax liability on the return Form 1040 line 46 or Form 1040A line 28) with a minimum amount of $300 and a maximum amount of $600 for individuals.

  8. It is based on what you paid in taxes this year (2007 taxes). We got back 1200 and recieved 1200 on our stimulas. They will not pay out more than you paid in taxes in 2007.Remember this is a loan of next years refund. You have to claim it as income this year (2008)and it will affect your return for  the tax year 2008.
