Why was my stimulus check not for the full amount I was due?

If your income was around $10K then you did NOT pay over $600 in taxes.  You might have had that much withheld, but what counts is the amount they actually kept after your refund and it would have been far less than $600.  You got what you were entitled to.

You get what they give you.  No one said the free money was something you were "due".

It was free money, be happy with what you got.  Some got zero.  There was nothing carved in stone or federal law saying people were going to get specific amounts.  It was an amount "up to" $600.

Did you owe any back taxes from previous years?  That is automatically deducted from the standard 1 individual amount of $300.
