  1. i dont know but whoever messed up in communications should be canned

  2. This was stupid, only one team needed to wear the away strip!

Got really confused watching it on TV,  just as well the AB's had the ball all of the time, this was the only way I  could tell the difference!

  3. I thought so too, made it difficult to know who was  who when I have not followed these teams previously

  4. Because the World Cup organisation sold the rights to shirt designs to an outside company. That's why all the teams are wearing unusual strips. Hence even although everyone at the game could see that the colours clashed no one could change them because of the contract. Believe it or believe it not.

  5. It would have been easier to distinguish if the ABs were wearing black IMO. Despite the pathetic performance of the ABs, there were a couple of occasions where they nearly passed the ball to the scots, after the game it was releavled that some players were confused.

  6. Yeah my niece pointed this out.  I never really took much notice.  I know Scotland got the first choice of uniform and New Zealand had to wear an away strip.  They could have worn something different because even they were confused at some stages of the game.

  7. If you had problems telling the teams apart. The All Blacks where the ones with the ball.

  8. Get a new high definition tv. Scotland wear blue, New Zealand black,

  9. New Zealand did change colours to silver rather than black. But yeah it did seem like they were similar colours, i reckon it was because the camera was so zoomed out it was hard to track down the difference in colour.

  10. I commented on that also, at the beginning of the match. It did get difficult at times to distinguish players. The AB's should have been able to play in the black kit since Scotland wore their home colours.

  11. I noticed this too. I don't know why because when England played Germany (football) a few years ago, England had to change the colour of their kit which the supporters were not impressed with.

  12. i noticed it too.it is hard to see which one is NZ and which one is Scotland.i have to look at the back of the jersey to know about that.i wonder how the team manage to know which players are theirs?

  13. Yes - wasn't it stupid?

If there had been any rough play in a ruck or a maul, how could the touch-judge have decided who did what to who.

The frivilous answer came from my partner who said that it was the only way that we could realise that it was the Scotland reserve XV who were losing

  14. I think , Scotland , having the chioce of colours, thought it was a good idea to create onfield confusion, and it did, the All Blacks played awful, by their standards.

I believe  that was one reson for so many passes going astray., and, uncommon confusion in rucks and malls.

  15. My husband pointed this out too but I didn't find it too much of a problem. After a few minutes I just got used to it! I'm in NZ and it's been a big topic on radio sport today. Like I say, I didn't find it THAT confusing! Just pay more attention, stop whining and get on with enjoying the tournament.

  16. Its because of these sad looking new kit designs they are all wearing - American Football has a good system, each team has a home kit, and a 'White'  kit - (White with the teams trimming colours.

There are a few teams with White home kits but then they dont need to change anyway - they let the other team wear their home kit. Problem solved.

I guess this problem started as traditionally the All Black and Scottish kits were too similar, - however now the AB reserve kit is dark grey rather than their traditional white (brilliant) and the Socttish home kit has ugly big grey patches over the Blue.

Anyone think tradition can be cool?

  17. it was terrible to watch the kits were too similar

    it was a marketing stunt

  18. Because sponsors tell them what to wear. They are all big guys but don't have guts to stand up to them. Very sad. Bring back the old strips - I always though rugby was a game for down to earth people - not frilly fashion dancers.

Like so much of sport - it's not about entertainment - it's only about money in the pocket. Sad but, I fear, true.

  19. In my mind, the choice of strips should have been decided on the toss of a coin - in this tournament, Scotland were not considered to be 'home', in the sense that they will not have an 'away' game with the ABs.

They were not playing 'at home' at all, even though they were playing at their home ground.

  20. because Ireland werent there

  21. Scotland were playing "at home" therfore they had first choice on their kit.  New Zealand had to play in their "away" strip which was silver and black.  Unfortunatey, it was very similar to the Scotland strip.  It would have been a better call to have let them play in their traditional All Black kit.  Jim Rosenthal was heard to comment on this at half time.  He offered appologies for the confusion and went on to tell those viewers who were having trouble distinguishing between the two, that New Zealand were the ones with the ball!

  22. It was bizarre, too hard to tell them apart with the "All Blacks" wearing grey!

Scotland were at home, though being a World Cup match, and it supposedly being France's world cup, I would have thought that either team could have been nominally drawn as the home team and that team wear its first kit, and the other team wear a contrasting kit, would make sense to me.

  23. IMO it was all strategy.  Scotland chose to wear their away jerseys which are predominantly a navy blue shade and as navy blue is rather close to black when people are running around on the pitch, NZ was told to wear their away jerseys being a horrid silver with black panelling.  I've heard many say it was probably about mind games, trying to take something away from the ABs by taking away their "All Black" Black jerseys.

I got such a headache trying to keep a track of who was who - particularly at 3 in the morning.  It would've been better if our shirts were white instead I thought, especially as I noticed that the Scots jerseys had a lighter shade of blue or grey on the shoulder area which looked similar to the silver body on NZs jerseys.  Ok confused much?

Actually - we should've just stuck to black.  It's so much easier to tell them apart when we have one colour and the other team has like 3 different colours.

  24. I don't know why they were wearing those colours but they were very similar and not easy to tell apart on TV.
